![]() ![]() Windows configures the wireless adapter for use after a few seconds of installing the built-in driver or the one from the installation disc. For most wireless USB adapters, Windows does not require third-party drivers because it has the needed software built in to the operating system. Insert the driver disc for the USB wireless adapter into the CD or DVD drive of the HP computer if prompted by Windows. If your HP system has USB ports in the front of the case, plug the USB cable for the network adapter into one of those, because you may receive a better wireless signal than you would if connecting the device to the rear of the desktop computer. ![]() Insert the mini-plug end of the USB cable into the USB network adapter, and connect the other end to the computer.
